1978 Ovation 1619-4
Year: 1978
Brand: Ovation
Model: 1619-4
Class: Guitar
Scale:
Owner: Ryan Glenn

Ryan Glenn's beautiful 1978 Ovation 1619-4. Its a deep bowl back model, with flatter side so you can hold it in your lap and actually play without it getting away from you.

2024-02-13: Ryan said the pickup was cutting out on him. I cleaned the output jacks, volume and tone pots, saddle pickup. The low E tuner had a cracked tuning button that broke while taking the string off, but he already has another one on the way.

He mentioned that the pickup buzzes, and after cleaning and checking everything it does seem to be a little loud. I added some insulating tape around the stock shrink wrap on the pickup as it had shrunk over time. Hopefully this resolves the issue as everything looks good, not pot scratching, etc.

2024-02-19: The pickup and preamp while working was making intermittent noise. We pulled the preamp to inspect the circuit. We found a loose audio transformer. Re soldered the transformer and stabilized it to the pcb with hot glue. For good measure we replaced the four 5uf electrolytic capacitors for good measure due to their age. Reflowed pcb solder connections. This appears to have resolved the intermittent noises.
